What is the Nanda Gaura Yojana?

The Nanda Gaura Yojana is a state-run welfare scheme that provides conditional financial assistance to eligible families for up to two girl children. Under the Nanda Gaura Girl Child Scheme, the first instalment incentivises institutional delivery in hospitals or recognised health centres, ensuring better maternal and child healthcare outcomes.

The second instalment rewards educational achievement by supporting girls who complete Class 12. This component of the Nandaa Gaura Yojana encourages girls to continue higher secondary education and discourages early marriage, thereby promoting long-term empowerment.

What Is The Eligibility Criteria Of The Nanda Gaura Yojana?

To ensure fair access, the government has laid down specific eligibility conditions under the Nandaa Gaura Yojana for girl child in Uttarakhand:

• Families applying for the benefit must reside in Uttarakhand at the time of application.

• The monthly family income of the applicant must not exceed ₹6,000, or the applicant must be a member of a low-income family (BPL).

• Each applicant is eligible for a maximum of two daughters.

• The parent/guardian of the child must submit an affidavit stating:

  • That the parent/guardian is disclosing all assets and income accurately;

  • That they are only claiming benefits for their first or second daughter;

  • That the parent/guardian has not concealed any information; and

  • The parent/guardian has provided complete details on the family's bank accounts.

  • A girl is unmarried (only for the 2nd phase of assistance).

Note:

Girls who live in Nari Niketan, Balika Niketan, and orphanage or government-sponsored homes are not required to submit any of the following documentation: Birth Certificate, Income Certificate, etc. at the time of application for the 2nd phase of assistance.
