The Swadhar Greh Scheme launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in the year 2001 aims to provide support and aid to women who have fallen victim to unfortunate events and situations. This scheme establishes shelters known as Swadhar Greh to provide rehabilitation to these women.

who have lost their homes due to natural calamities and disasters.

Women prisoners who have served their sentences but have no familial support.

who have been subjected to domestic abuse or violence.

who have been deserted by their caretakers.

who have been rescued from a trafficking organisation.
-
who are affected by HIV with no form of support.
Benefits Provided By The Swadhar Greh Initiative
The Sarkari Yojana provides many benefits that women can utilise to regain their lost lives and reform them once again. Some of the benefits provided are:

Victims of domestic violence can avail of the facilities provided by the government scheme for up to one year

For women outside this category, their stay can be for up to 3 years depending on which category of the scheme they belong to

Women above the age of 55 can be allowed to avail the benefits of the scheme for up to 5 years and after that will be shifted to old age homes or other institutions better suited for their needs

The Swadhar Greh scheme also allows for the children of the women to accompany them. Girls up to the age of 18 and boys up to the age of 12 are allowed accommodation
