Quick Answer: Udyam registration fees are ₹0 on the official Udyam Registration portal, udyamregistration.gov.in. The Ministry of MSME charges nothing to register, print, update or verify. Any amount a consultant, CA, cyber café or website asks for is their own service charge, not a government fee, and paying it is optional.
District Industries Centres (DICs) help for free, and a paid helper can't make your registration more official.
Overview
| Point | What applies |
|---|---|
| Government fee | ₹0 |
| Where you register | udyamregistration.gov.in, run by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) |

| Complaints about fake sites | champions.gov.in, the Ministry's grievance portal |
What are the Udyam registration fees in 2026?
There are none: the government fee is ₹0. The Udyam portal's Important to Know page states "There will be no fee for filing Udyam Registration", as does the June 2020 notification that created Udyam.
Everything you do on the portal later is free too.
| What you do on udyamregistration.gov.in | Government fee |
|---|---|
| New Udyam registration | ₹0 |
| Print or download the Udyam certificate | ₹0 |
| Update or edit your Udyam details, or cancel the registration | ₹0 |
| Verify a Udyam Registration Number | ₹0 |
| Recover a forgotten Udyam or UAM number | ₹0 |
| Move an old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) to Udyam | ₹0 |
There's no renewal either, so no renewal fee exists.
Why do websites and agents charge for a free Udyam registration?
Because they're selling their help, not the registration. Some are genuine consultants charging for their time; others are look-alike websites, and the Ministry's homepage warns: "Beware of Fake Sites."
The portal adds that apart from itself and the government's Single Window Systems, no private service, agency or person is authorised to do MSME registration. A private helper is never an official channel.
How do you tell the official Udyam portal from a look-alike site?
Check the address first. The Ministry says udyamregistration.gov.in is its official website and "No other website/portal/app is official."
- The address is exactly udyamregistration.gov.in. A similar name on .com, .in or .org isn't the government.
- There's no payment step. A payment page means you're somewhere else.
- Nothing needs uploading. The real form asks you to type in Aadhaar and PAN details, not upload scans.
If a site took money for a "Udyam fee", complain on the Ministry's MSME Champions grievance portal. If an agent gave you a certificate, verify the Udyam certificate online with its number before you rely on it.
What do consultants, CAs and CSC centres charge for Udyam registration?
There's no government rate for them. Each consultant, chartered accountant (CA) or Common Service Centre (CSC) sets its own price, and none of it goes to the Ministry. Ask the amount and what it covers before they start.
What the fee pays for, and the free route:
| What a paid helper does | Free route |
|---|---|
| Sits with you through the online form | File it yourself on the portal, or ask your DIC |
| Picks the right National Industrial Classification (NIC) code for your activity | Choose the right NIC code for Udyam registration using the portal's own list |
| Works out which details you need for your business type | Check the documents and details needed for Udyam registration |
| Fixes mistakes or updates details later | The Update/Cancel option on the portal, at no fee |
| Helps if you have no Aadhaar number yet | Your DIC or a Champions Control Room |
Is the CSC or Akshaya centre fee a government fee?
No. Udyam has no government fee, so whatever you pay at a CSC, an Akshaya centre or a cyber café is for the operator's service. Make sure the registration uses your own Aadhaar and mobile number, because later logins send the OTP there.
What mistakes should you avoid when paying for Udyam help?
- Paying a "renewal fee". Udyam registration never needs renewing, so refuse any charge for it.
- Trusting a helper that says it's government approved. No private agency is authorised, whatever its website claims.
- Registering again to fix a detail or find a lost number. One enterprise can file only one registration, so use Update/Cancel or "Forgot Udyam/UAM Number".
- Typing OTPs into a site you haven't checked. Confirm the address is exactly udyamregistration.gov.in first.
When is paid help with Udyam registration worth it?
Only when it solves a real problem, because most owners can finish their Udyam registration online, free, in one sitting. To do it yourself, open New Registration on the official Udyam portal, verify your Aadhaar with an OTP, then your PAN, and fill in your business details; the certificate is issued online.
Paid help can make sense if you're unsure of the NIC codes for several activities, or you're registering a company or LLP through an authorised signatory. If cost matters, try the free DIC route first.
Jaagruk Bharat is one such private, paid helper. It isn't part of the Ministry or authorised by it, and its fee is a service charge for guiding you and filing the form with you on the government portal. If that suits you, see help filing your Udyam registration, where the charge is shown before you pay. Your Udyam registration benefits are the same however you file.
Are MSME registration fees different in Maharashtra or other states?
No. There's one national Udyam portal, and the ₹0 fee is the same in Maharashtra and every other state and union territory. Since 1 July 2020, MSME registration is Udyam registration, so MSME registration fees are also ₹0.
