How do you track your FSSAI application status on FoSCoS?
Open the FoSCoS Track Application page, enter your reference number and submit. It works the same for a registration (Form A) and a State or Central licence (Form B).
- Go to the FoSCoS home page and click Track Application.
- Type your 17-digit Application Reference No. The box accepts numbers only.
- Enter the 6-character captcha and click Submit.
- Read the result card.
The card shows the company name, date of application, last updated date, type of application and its status, with a login link for any further action.
What does your FSSAI application status mean, and what should you do?
Your status tells you which step the officer has reached. The stages below come from FSSAI's FoSCoS guidance document; the words on your card can differ, so match the closest row.

What happens if FSSAI sends your application back with a query?
You have 30 days to reply; FSSAI's guidance document says an unanswered application is then auto-rejected. Log in to FoSCoS, open Reverted Applications, read the officer's remarks, click Proceed, update the application and submit it again. Regulation 2.1.4(2) gives licence applicants the same 30 days.
Where do you find your 17-digit FSSAI reference number?
It's on the application receipt FoSCoS generates after you pay the fee. FSSAI's guide to applying for a licence or registration calls it a 17-digit reference number "for future reference".

How long does FSSAI take to process an application?
The FSSAI licensing and registration regulations set different time limits for registration and a licence:
- Registration: the authority grants it, rejects it or orders an inspection within 7 days. After an inspection, it decides within 30 days. Since March 2026, FSSAI may also grant registration instantly on complete documents.
- State or Central licence: the authority checks the application within 15 days and issues the licence within 60 days of the application ID. After an inspection report, it decides within 30 days.
For a licence, the 60 days start only once your application is complete.

A 17-digit reference number tracks an application; a 14-digit number identifies a licence that's already been issued.

So an FSSAI registration status check before approval always uses the 17-digit number.
What mistakes should you avoid when tracking your FSSAI application?
- Entering your 14-digit licence number. The tracker accepts only the 17-digit reference number on your receipt.
- Checking status on a private website. Use the free FoSCoS tracker; only FSSAI or your state food safety department decides.
- Assuming silence means progress. The officer's remarks show only after you log in, and ignoring a query for 30 days can mean rejection.
- Losing the login you applied with. You need it to reply to a query or download your certificate.
What can you do if your FSSAI application is stuck?
First log in and look for a query in Reverted Applications, because the public tracker doesn't show the officer's remarks. If nothing is pending and the time limit has passed, call the FSSAI helpline on 1800112100 with your reference number.
