The Special Intensive Revision form is created by the Election Commission of India for a variety of reasons, which are also the reasons why it is important for all citizens to fill out and submit it on time. Those reasons are as follows:
The whole process of Special Intensive Revision has been designed to verify the voters’ details (like name, address, date of birth, etc.) and update the electoral roll to keep it up to date and accurate. This process will remove any duplication, old, or fraudulent entries from the system and will only retain genuine and eligible people who can cast votes.
It is crucial to complete the process of filling out the SIR form to ensure that your name appears in the updated electoral roll so that you can continue voting as and when the elections come.
The process of submitting the forms has been kept extremely simple. Citizens are simply required to fill out the SIR Form download PDF, sign it, and submit it. It does not even require them to attach any supporting documents. Please note that people of all states, such as SIR form West Bengal PDF or SIR form download PDF Uttar Pradesh, and others are required to do this process.

Please note that even if you miss the deadline and fail to submit the form before or on the 4th of December, there will be no fines or punitive actions against you. However, some of the consequences that you can expect are laid down below for one’s reference:
Your name may not appear in the updated electoral roll, which may temporarily stop you from casting your vote in the upcoming election.
You will have to fill out another form, called Form 6, accurately, with supporting documents, along with the possibility of hearings that you will be required to attend.
Post missing the deadline, you will have to engage in another heavy process of applications, waiting period, and follow-ups, which is not extremely burdensome.
If anyone fills and submits the SIR form after the 9th of December, that is, after the draft roll gets published, they will be required to attend a hearing. If anyone fails to attend the hearing, their name might be permanently removed from the electoral roll, which will prevent them from casting votes in India.
The SIR required documents list comprises a total of 11 documents for the SIR Election. Those 11 documents are laid down below for one’s reference and clarity:
Proof of identity
Educational certificate
Forest Rights Certificate
National Register of Citizens (NRC)
SIR documents list 2025 includes the Family Register prepared by state authorities as part of the needed documents, too.
A land or house allotment certificate is also needed, as mentioned in the SIR documents list PDF.
Pension payment order issued to regular employees/pensioners of the central or state government or the PSU is also part of the SIR 11 documents list.
The ECI SIR form filling is an extremely important and crucial process that demands the support and cooperation of all the voters of India. As described above, there are definitely no punitive consequences for not completing the verification process on time; however, it may become the reason why your name will be absent from the updated electoral roll.
The authorities have still opened a second way of redeeming oneself if that happens, but we request you to fill out and submit the Special Intensive Revision form before the SIR form last date, which is the 11th of December, and help the Indian government in keeping the electoral roll updated and accurate.
