The Mukhyamantri Udiyaman Khiladi Yojana is a targeted sports scholarship programme offered by the Uttarakhand Sports Department, which aims to identify talented children at a very early age by having these children participate in physical aptitude and sport-specific aptitude assessments.
The Mukhyamantri Udiyaman Khiladi Yojana provides monthly scholarships to children who are awarded scholarships in order to assist these children in paying for the costs associated with training, equipment for training, and travel expenses to attend sporting events. The Mukhyamantri Udiyaman Khiladi Yojana's work is done by district sports officers, and the district sports officers conduct district-level talent identification events to create a state merit list.
The key objectives of the scheme, identified below, detail how the Government of Uttarakhand plans to achieve its overall goals for implementing this scholarship programme.
Promote and facilitate increased participation of children in organised sport with an emphasis on identifying talent at an early age.
Provide financial assistance to enable low-income family children to continue their involvement with sports training and competing.
Enhance the quality of sports in the state by expanding the availability of well-developed talent pools for district/state/national sporting events.
Beneficiaries of the programme will receive ₹1,500 monthly scholarships for up to 12 months, which will be deposited into beneficiaries' bank accounts to cover ongoing expenses (i.e., coaching fees, sports equipment, transportation and nutrition).
In addition to the financial grant, the successful applicants also receive official recognition from the Department of Sports, State of Uttarakhand, preference for entry into DISTRICT SPORT CAMPs, and increased visibility for State/National selections in the future.
The proposed programme is expected to support approximately 3,900 children statewide (across Districts) during the first implementation phase.
