Schemes operate in an offline application process. The applicants eligible for the benefit are obliged to apply during the time stipulated after marriage.
Step 1: Interested couples should pick up their respective Application form from the Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs office on their respective islands.
Step 2: Carefully fill out the application form by entering accurate details on personal information, status of disability, income, marital status, and bank account information.
Step 3: All supporting documents should adhere to the application form in order to help in the verification and approval process.
Step 4: Deputy commissioner (DC) / Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the concerned island should submit the completed application form.
The Island Level Committee must also recommend the application before final submission.
Step 6: The application form with all the attachments should be submitted to the Director of the Department of Social Welfare & Tribal Affairs of the concerned island.
Step 7: The department checks the applicant's eligibility criteria, disability status, income information, and supporting documentation.
Step 8: If verified and approved successfully, financial assistance is sanctioned, and payment is made.
Step 9: The approved amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The applicant should apply within 30 days of the date of marriage.
Applications may be considered up to one year from the date of marriage, subject to departmental approval and scheme guidelines.
Assistance for marriage must be verified and is not a right of the marriage.
At the time of applying for this scheme, the applicant should be ready with the marriage assistance documents that are required, as mentioned below.
