The Pay and Play Scheme is a sports-related scheme launched by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs under the state government of Jharkhand. The main reason behind the creation of this scheme is to provide sportspersons with proper government pay and play sports complex, training centres, and stadiums wherein they can train and carry out their daily practices. The services of the training centres made available through this scheme can be exercised with a very nominal one-time registration fee, which makes the scheme extremely affordable as well.
The scheme covers around 11 sports. i.e., Athletics, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Shooting, Gymnastics, Basketball, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Swimming. The state government scheme is essential as it will improve the training conditions of the sportspersons of our nation.
There are several objectives of this government sports ground booking scheme that make it unique and beneficial, some of which are laid out below:
The primary objective is to provide government-built stadiums, sports complexes, and training centres to sportspersons so that they can train there with all the needed equipment. Through this, the authorities aim to promote the use of public services, especially for sportspersons, and not private services, as they cost a lot.
The authorities also aim to encourage more and more young people to participate in their favourite sports and even think of building a full-time career in them. Sports are not encouraged as a full-time profession by many because of the unfavourable conditions in the nation, but with the introduction of this scheme, the authorities are working on changing that perception of people.
By providing a well-maintained and well-equipped dedicated space to sportspersons, their skills will sharpen, which will have a positive impact on their performances in various national and international sports competitions.
The Sarkari Yojana comes along with numerous benefits. Some of the key benefits of the Public Sports Facility scheme are laid out below in brief points:
The most popular benefit unlocked after applying for this scheme is access to well-developed sports pay and play facilities, like training centres and complexes. This will help sportspersons in training with all the necessary equipment.
The registration fee to avail the amenities provided under the scheme is kept at a very nominal and basic rate so that sportspersons from all economic backgrounds can afford it. The fee collected is used to maintain and upkeep the facilities at the training centres and also shields sportspersons from having to invest in private club memberships, which are usually very expensive.
Practising with all the needed equipment and in dedicated professional spaces not only improves the skills of the sportspersons but also familiarises them with the competition and the probable conditions when they actually go to play. This builds in them the much-needed confidence that is crucial for winning prestigious competitions.
