The Directorate of Women and Child Development, Government of Goa, launched the Mamta Scheme, which offers financial incentives to mothers who give birth to a girl child in registered medical facilities. What Is Financial Incentives To Mothers Who Deliver A Girl Child (Mamta Scheme)?

The Government of Goa started a program, Financial Incentives To Mothers Who Deliver a Girl Child or more commonly known as the Mamta Scheme. This government scheme launched by the Directorate of Women and Child Development in 2021 is designed with a larger goal of correcting the sex ratio in the state of Goa.

The scheme outlines financial incentives to those mothers who meet certain eligibility criteria, chief amongst which is delivering a girl child. It is structured to follow the healthy care and wellbeing of the child and incentivise those who follow healthy childcare practises.

Mamta Scheme Benefits

The Mamta scheme is designed by the Directorate of Women and Child Development to bring parity of the sex ratio in the state of Goa and implement healthy childcare practices. The major benefits of this Sarkari scheme are:

  • After the woman gives birth to a girl child, the first instalment of Rs. 5000 will be released (apply within 45 days).

  • After completing the fundamental immunisations (BCG, Polio, DPT, Hepatitis B1, B2, B3, Vit A, DPT Booster, and Polio Booster) and presenting the necessary paperwork, the second instalment of Rs. 5000 will be released.

  • After Secondary Education (S.S.C.E.) is completed and the document is produced, the third instalment of Rs. 5000 will be released.

  • After completing Higher Secondary Education (H.S.S.C.E.), the fourth instalment of Rs. 5000 will be issued upon presentation of the required paperwork.

  • After completing the degree program and presenting the required paperwork, the fifth instalment of Rs. 5000 will be released.

  • The govt scheme also has a larger goal of improving the child sex ratio of the state of Goa which currently stands at 774 females per 1,000 males.

Mamta Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Although the Mamta Scheme is for any mothers who deliver a girl child in the state of Goa, there are certain criteria that they must also meet:

  • A living girl child must have been born to the mother at a licensed medical facility.

  • Up to two deliveries per mother are covered by the plan.

  • The candidate must have lived in Goa for at least three years or be married to a Goa citizen (evidence needed).

  • Applications must be sent to the local Anganwadi Center within 45 days of the delivery.

  • All moms are eligible for the government program, regardless of their financial or social standing.

Exclusions

The scheme outlines multiple eligibility criteria for individuals who seek to gain benefit but there are certain exclusion policies also built. Those are:

  • The applicant must have been a citizen and resident of Goa for at least a minimum of the last 3 years.

  • No other exclusions are present under this government scheme.

Mamta Scheme Application Process

Applying for the Mamta Scheme is very easy as it is accessible and only requires a few simple steps on the part of the applicant: The process is as follows:

Step 1: Open the official website and create an account by registering and providing necessary details like name, address, date of birth, email address, and mobile number, along with an OTP.

Step 2: Once you have successfully registered, use your login information to access the Services Menu. Then, select All Services --> Directorate of Women & Child Development --> Financial Incentives to Mothers who Deliver a Girl Child (MAMTA) Scheme.

Step 3: Complete the application.

Step 4: As required, upload the required documentation.

Step 5: The declaration form's clauses must be properly reviewed and filed.

Step 6: To send the application to the department, click the "Submit Application" button.

Step 7: After the form is submitted, an email and SMS acknowledgement will be issued. For application tracking, take note of the acknowledgement number.

Mamta Scheme Documents Required

The application process requires the submission of certain required documents for the application to be processed and catalogued for the right applicant. The required documents are:

  • An Aadhaar card copy that has been self-attested.

  • A certified copy of the registered institution's birth report or certificate.

  • Evidence indicating the applicant (the mother) has lived in Goa for a minimum of three years OR evidence that the applicant (the mother) has been married to a Goan resident (the husband's residential certificate and marriage certificate).

  • Duplicate of pre-receipt (For New Beneficiaries).

  • For recipients who received the first instalment under the previous scheme, a duplicate pre-receipt is included.
