The victim compensation scheme was launched by the Home Department of Tripura on August 14, 2018. A mob victim is a person who has been harmed or injured as a result of violence carried out by a group of people acting together. This state government scheme provides financial support to victims or their families who have suffered loss or injury from lynching or mob violence and need help with recovery. This government scheme was created following a Supreme Court order on July 17, 2018.
The crime compensation scheme aims to provide financial support to victims under the victim compensation scheme under section 357A. A fund called the "Victim Compensation Fund for Lynching/Mob Violence" will be used to pay compensation. The District Magistrates and Collectors in the state will implement the scheme.
