TRAI recently adopted guidelines that is good news for mobile users. Now Telecom Authority Of India is giving more time to activate Jio, Airtel, Vi, and BSNL numbers. The new rules aim to fix cases where delayed recharges cause SIM deactivation. This article will analyse the validity rules of separate telecom operators. It will also discuss their impact on mobile subscribers.
Jio users now benefit from an extended validity of 90 days without recharge. During this period, incoming call services may vary depending on the last recharge plan. If no recharge occurs during this waiting period, a user will lose the rights of their SIM. The company will reallocate the number to someone else.
Airtel subscribers can keep their SIM card active for over 90 days without a recharge. All users get 15 extra days to wake up their number after the initial period. After 90 days without a recharge, your SIM will deactivate. The phone number will then be available to a new user.

New Vi users enjoy free 90-day phone service before needing to charge their SIM. Number retention after 90 days requires the user to make at least a recharge payment of ₹49. The lack of recharge will trigger SIM deactivation.
BSNL ranks highest among telecom operators. Their SIM cards stay active for 180 days without a recharge. As BSNL offers the longest SIM validity in India, their extended duration is ideal for users who prefer fewer recharges and want to keep their numbers active for a longer period.
Users of the TRAI system can use a ₹20 recharge to add another 30 days of validity to their SIM end date. Users can activate their SIM after 90 days of inactivity. They must use a ₹20 recharge, which will deduct the value to activate the service. A SIM goes into deactivation mode and is available for new subscribers when its balance is too low.
TRAI's new SIM validity policies help users. They reduce costs and increase flexibility. The policies affect Jio, Airtel, Vi, and BSNL. Following the latest rules will keep your SIM active while preventing unwanted deactivations.
