In Gujarat, a large number of migrant workers stay away from their families. Due to high fare costs, visiting home is not an option for many. To solve this problem, the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board initiated the Shramyogi Home Town Scheme which seeks to financially assist workers by covering their railway prices. With this support, workers can travel without worrying about the expenses.

The Shramyogi Hometown Scheme is intended to support peasant workers in Gujarat’s organised sector. This scheme helps them with the cost of rail travel to their native state. Such subsidisation of travelling expenses makes it easier for workers to go home and see their families.
A lot of migrants and manual workers move out for work and leave their families, but the sad part is that they often do not have the means to visit their families back home. Travelling is expensive, making it nearly impossible to meet the family. This scheme alleviates that burden and supports their welfare.

To reduce the economic burden on labourers who cannot afford travel expenses due to their low salaries.

We know migrant workers are hardworking people separated from their families. The costs associated with travelling usually prevent migrant workers from visiting home. This service provided by the government subsidises rail fares while also providing financial assistance, thus improving communication with families.
Manual workers receive support for railway journeys.
The money is sent straight to the bank account of the worker, ensuring a direct benefit transfer.
Employees can travel home once every two years.
The Sarkari Yojana helps ensure that migrant workers are in contact with their families within reasonable bounds.
Not all employees have the resources to travel to their families, but this system guarantees that support reaches those who need it the most. For the program to be effective, some criteria apply. Workers qualify based on their employment and contributions.
The applicant should be working as an employee in the organised sector of Gujarat for a period not less than one year.
There should be a deposit of the Labour Welfare Fund contribution in the board.
Can claim benefits only once in two (2) years– Current Block: 2022-23 & 2023-24.
In a case where both husband and wife are employed, only one spouse can lodge the request.
Pre-travel submission of Applications is Mandatory.
Requires submission of travel evidence within one month after the travel.

Applying for the government scheme is simple and can be done online. Workers need to register, fill in their details, and submit the required documents. Follow these steps to complete the process smoothly.
Step 1: Visit the Sanman Portal: https://sanman.gujarat.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on ‘Citizen Login’ → ‘Please Register Here’.
Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar Card Number, User Type, and Labour Welfare Fund Account Number.
Step 4: Click ‘Fetch’ and verify the details.
Step 5: Enter user details and password to register.
Step 6: Log in using your credentials.
Step 7: Select the Shramyogi Home Town Scheme and read the instructions.
Step 8: Fill out the application form and upload the required documents.
Step 9: Agree to the Rules & Regulations and apply.
Step 10: You will receive a confirmation email with your application number.
For the smooth processing of the application certain documents are requireto be submitted by the workers for eligibility verification. These documents assist in proving the applicant’s identity, employment, and movement details. It's essential to have all the necessary documents at hand before the application is submitted.
