The Gramodyog Vikas Yojana ministry introduced Gramodyog Vikas Yojana to help artisans retain their place in the market. With the growing use of technology and machines, the work of artisans has reduced tremendously over the years. The Gramodyog Vikas Yojana MSME helps protect the artisans and their talent.
The Gramodyog Vikas Yojana launch date was in March 2020 and was introduced by the Central Sector Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). It was implemented to help promote and develop the village industries using common facilities, training, modernisation, etc.
The GVY govt scheme was implemented by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to create employment, preserve traditional skills and reduce poverty.
The Gramodyog Vikas Yojana MSME scheme provides several benefits to rural artisans and industries. Let’s take a look at a few benefits.
Since traditional industries are mainly labour-intensive, the government aims to provide employment opportunities in Indian rural areas. It reduces unemployment and focuses on employment generation.
Industries need to be introduced to the overall development of rural villages. This is exactly what GVY is providing. GVY helps establish small-scale enterprises, boosting the local economy and promoting economic activities. This also helps reduce migration to urban areas, reducing overpopulation in cities.
GVY encourages the usage of local resources and raw materials available. This promotes traditional knowledge, skills, and natural resources, preserving local culture and heritage.
With time, people started preferring machine-made products over traditional man-made products. But now the market has changed completely and people, especially in the international markets are ready to pay more to get traditional handicrafts.
GVY aims to promote the export of such products which will help generate foreign exchange earnings and improve trade competitiveness.
