Main Components Of The Krishak Bandhu Scheme
The Krishak Bandhu Scheme comprises two major components to support the farmers of West Bengal. The components are described below in detail and focus on making farmers financially independent and secure during the hard times:
-
Assured Income: The Assured Income component of the scheme provides farmers with financial aid of Rs. 10,000, rolled out in typically two seasons. i.e. the Kharif which is the rainy cropping season (June-September), and Rabi which is the winter cropping season (October-March). The funds are deposited directly into the farmer’s bank account which keeps the process transparent and safe. This component prevents the farmers from falling into the pit of debt.
-
Death Benefit: The Death Benefit component of the scheme provides farmers with life insurance benefits. In case of the insured farmer’s untimely (natural or accidental) and unfortunate death, the families are entitled to receive the insurance compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs after submitting the death certificate of the deceased. Farmers are required to register a member of their families as a nominee so that they can receive the pay.
