Indian Railways aims to serve all passengers and takes many steps to make journeys smooth. The rail network has expanded and coaches have become more luxurious and comfortable.
Trains now have many coach types, making trips more fun. Coaches are divided by class.
When booking a train ticket, you will receive a seat number. The seat number provides details about which coach and specific seat you should sit in. For example, if your ticket is for a sleeper car, it will have an "S" in the seat number. If it says something like "B1" or "B2", that means you have a third class AC ticket. You can use the seat number to find your assigned seat for the trip. However, some tickets just have an "M" listed, so people get confused about which coach class they will be in.
In 2021, Railways added some trains with better facilities than 3A coaches. This coach is called M code. So far it is only available on a few trains. This new category of train coaches uses codes like M1 and M2.
