The government of Himachal Pradesh has added more beneficiaries to the welfare scheme named, Chief Minister Sukhashray Scheme, which is currently assisting 6,000 orphaned children in the state. On Sunday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu divulged that this government scheme would henceforth include the abandoned and surrendered children to foster comprehensive development and well-being of the children.
The government initiative aims to provide broad-range assistance to needy children about their well-being and overall development. The new beneficiaries include:
Abandoned Children: These are children whose biological parents or legal guardians do not take care of them.
Surrendered Children: These are children who have been relinquished by their parents or guardians for physiological or sociological causes.
Absorbing these children would assist in addressing their psychological, emotional, social, and financial needs.

District Child Welfare Committees will issue certificates to eligible children under the government scheme. After final approval, these benefits will be made available to the children.
Himachal Pradesh has the distinction of becoming the first Indian state to enact laws aimed at safeguarding the rights of orphaned children. Children’s education, welfare, and holistic development are concerns of the government so that children grow up with respect and independence.
The amended CM Sukhashray Scheme for children has been broadened by the Himachal Pradesh government because vulnerable children deserve to be respected. The Sarkari Yojana implements stronger measures to enable the self-sufficiency of such children by providing financial aid, education and other opportunities.
