Delhi is not only a UT but also the national capital of India. As beautiful as it is, the state is working on overcoming several challenges related to infrastructure, sustainable ways of growth, social welfare, etc.
Recently, the Chief Minister of the UT of Delhi announced Delhi’s budget for the year 2025-26. This year’s budget focuses on several key components, such as infrastructure development. The budget was created by taking into account the challenges the UT was facing and the ways they could be overcome.

The Chief Minister of the UT of Delhi, presented Delhi’s budget for the year 2025-26 in the state assembly. The significant points regarding the budget are mentioned below for one’s better understanding and reference:
The budget of Delhi is around Rs. 1 lakh crore, which is increased by 31.5% over last year’s budget. The capital expenditure has been doubled up by Rs. 28,000 crore.
A fund worth around Rs. 2144 crore has been allocated toward the healthcare scheme.
Around 5100 crore rupees have been set aside for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana. Under the scheme, all the women beneficiaries are entitled to Rs. 2500 per month to be deposited into their accounts.
To expand the connectivity within Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), around 1000 crore has been allocated.
The budget has assigned Rs. 3843 crore for the construction of roads and bridges.
The state government has taken a step to enhance women’s safety by installing CCTV cameras for which around 50,000 Rupees have been transferred.
To establish Atal canteens, the budget has set aside around Rs. 100 crore to establish 100 Atal canteens.
For the development of slum areas and JJ colony, the budget has an exclusive fund worth Rs. 696 crore.
Rs. 9000 crore has been set aside for clean drinking water facilities and Rs. 500 crore for improving the Sewer Treatment Plants (STPs). An additional fund worth Rs. 250 crore has been assigned to replace the old sewer lines.
To clean the Yamuna river, the state has allocated funds worth Rs. 500 crore, and the treated water will be diverted through the decentralisation of 40 Sewer Treatment Plants.
Under the New Education Policy (NEP), CM Shri Schools will be established with a budget of around 100 crore. All the government schools will be equipped with modern computer labs and smart classes. The state government will also distribute free laptops to around 1200 students in the 10th class.
The budget has allocated around 2144 crores to provide people with an insurance coverage of an extra 5 lakh rupees under the Ayushman Yojana.
Delhi’s budget for the year 2025-26 targets several key areas, such as infrastructure, water facilities, education, and monetary aid for women. The budget is expected to contribute toward the state’s sustainable growth and development.
