Recently, the Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, approved Delhi’s government request concerning the mandatory use of Aadhaar cards while applying for any government scheme in the state and income certificates. This measure was proposed by the state government to verify the identities of eligible and ineligible people so that only the true beneficiaries of the scheme can reap its benefits and not impostors.

Read the article to learn more about the recent update concerning the mandatory use of Aadhaar cards by the Delhi government.

Details About The Mandatory Use Of Aadhaar

The state government of Delhi recently proposed the mandatory use of Aadhaar cards while applying for government schemes and income certificates, as it is one of the most crucial documents needed to be a beneficiary of a scheme. This proposal is supported by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Rekha Gupta.

Impact Of The New Decision

The mandatory use of Aadhaar cards while applying for government schemes and income certificates will have quite an impact, not only on people but the authorities as well, such as:

  • Mandatory attachment of one’s Aadhaar card to apply for an income certificate will be covered under Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act of 2016. As per this section, the central and state governments will not issue an income certificate without Aadhaar authentication.

The move aims at eliminating any irregularity or malpractice in issuing income certificates to the applicants and thereby ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries registered under a scheme or financial assistance get the benefit,” expressed by the Raj Niwas.

  • The mandatory Aadhaar-based verification to apply for government schemes would make the system much more robust against errors and impostors. This change would ensure that only the truly eligible people get to reap the benefits of the government schemes created for their benefit.

  • The mandatory use of Aadhaar cards will also eliminate the use of multiple documents needed to prove one’s identity.

Note For People

Please ensure that you possess an updated Aadhaar card so that you can successfully apply for government schemes in the state of Delhi or an income certificate. However, people who don’t have an Aadhaar card can show other government-issued acceptable documents like a bank passbook, PAN card, passport, Kisan passbook, or a driving license. In case of minors, information like Aadhaar Enrolment ID or Biometric Update ID with a birth certificate or school ID with parents’ information and principal’s signature will be accepted.

Conclusion

The state government of Delhi recently announced mandatory Aadhaar-based verification for successful application for any government scheme in the state and income certificates. This new decision would help the authorities verify the identities of the beneficiaries and ensure that no impostor gets registered as a beneficiary of the scheme.
