Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Scheme: Benefits & Coverage

Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana or BSKY Nabin Odisha gov is a health insurance scheme launched in 2018 by the Odisha state government to provide health insurance to Odisha people mainly from the poorer section of the society. Under this government scheme, the public /claiming families are allowed to avail of cashless treatments under both public and private empanelled hospitals.

What Is Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana?

The BSKY full form Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is an insurance scheme which aims to protect people from illnesses. It makes self-funded treatment of the beneficiary families having the eligibility in selected empanelled hospitals in Odisha as well as outside the state.

Components Of BSKY

BSKY components comprise two major points. Yearly health insurance and cashless treatment. These are available at government hospital-owned or private empanelled hospitals.

  • Annual Health Coverage: ₹5 lahks per family and an additional ₹5 lakh for women.

  • Cashless Treatment: Pays for the registration, consultation, tests, hospitalisation and follow-ups.

Coverage Under BSKY

BSKY offers extensive coverage for most of the medical treatment, and surgeries as well as offering coverage for hospital services.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) are primarily determined by the type of government welfare cards held by families. Families that possess specific government-issued welfare cards, such as Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY) cards or National Food Security Act (NFSA) cards, are considered eligible for the scheme

  • Households with members in possession of an NFSA or SFSS card.

  • The beneficiaries of the government’s BSKY Smart Health Cards.

Application Procedure

There is no need to make an online application in BSKY. The cards include the NFSA or the SFSS cards whereby families will be enrolled automatically.

Step 1: Health Cards: The BSKY Smart Health Card is given automatically to families.

Step 2: Collection of Cards: They can also get their cards from Mo Seva Kendras provided full biometrics or having NFSA or SFSS cards.

Documents Required

Documents needed to avail of cashless treatment or benefits are as follows:

  • NFSA/ SFSS/ BSKY Health Card

  • Valid identity proof

  • Medical papers concerning the treatment

What Is A BSKY Card?

A BSKY Smart Health Card is issued to all the identified families under the BSKY scheme. It has eligibility proof and it is used to avail a cashless treatment in the empanelled hospitals.

Claim Settlement Procedure

Hassle-free and within a specific period claim settlement policies are made and executed. Claims must be submitted within seven days of the discharge of the patient and must be documented through the BSKY app.

  • Submission Time: They must be submitted within 7 days from discharge if they are to stand a chance of being paid.

  • Payment Timeline: The transactions take place electronically within four weeks.

Some documents are required to settle claims relating to BSKY login.

  • BSKY Health Card

  • Claim form

  • Proof of identity

  • Healthcare costs and documentation

BSKY Mobile Application

The BSKY Odisha app is for download on Google Play; Families bearing the BSKY Health Card get the comfort of availing services of ’direct cashless treatments’ in any empanelled private hospital extending to Odisha or other states. Via this app, the state government sponsors the medical costs for treatment and cheque-ups of BSKY cardholder families, so that families can receive the necessary medical service without being charged a single penny.
