Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana was implemented to reduce the gaps in fish production, productivity and quality to technology, post-harvest infrastructure and marketing. The Modi Sarkar Yojana also helps enhance the welfare of fishers and fish farms.

The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying implemented the PMMSY scheme to revolutionise the fisheries sector.
The government has an investment of Rs. 20,050 crores to develop the fisheries sector. PMSSY has been implemented in all the states and union territories for 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.
It is said that this govt scheme will bring the Blue Revolution. The Blue Revolution is a government initiative taken to increase the production of fisheries and productivity from aquaculture.
