The Nirmaan Shramik Mrtyu Evan Divyang Sahayata Yojana is a social welfare initiative launched by the state govt of Chhattisgarh back in the year 2020. This govt scheme is designed for the construction workers in the state and their families. The primary aim of the scheme is to provide immediate financial compensation to the construction workers or their families in case the construction worker becomes permanently disabled at the workplace, dies at the site, or passes away due to natural reasons.
The ultimate objective of this labour welfare board scheme is to help the construction workers and their families during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives.
The labour death assistance scheme comprises various essential objectives that make the whole scheme unique and different from others, such as:
The main objective of the labour death assistance scheme is to provide financial compensation either to the construction workers, if disabled at construction sites, or to their families in case the worker unfortunately dies due to natural causes or at the site by accident. The compensation helps the recipients in managing their expenses just after the loss of the primary breadwinner until one of them secures another employment.
The schemes take into account both the construction workers who suffered permanent disability and those who lost their lives while working or passed away due to natural causes. This shows the state government’s acknowledgement of the contributions of the construction workers.
The unorganised sector is often sidelined from the formal benefits that the people working in the organised sector enjoy. Schemes like the labour death assistance scheme help in changing that by making welfare measures accessible to the people who make up the unorganised sector.
This scheme of Divyang sahayata for labour workers comes with numerous benefits. Some of its major and popular benefits are described below in detailed points:
| Condition | Amount of worker disability financial assistance |
|---|---|
| Normal death | Rs 1 lakh. |
| Death occurred at the workplace | Rs 5 lakh. |
| Permanent disability suffered in the workplace | Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand. |
