The Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan (PMGDISHA) is a govt scheme that seeks to impart digital skills to villagers. Under the scheme, people in rural areas are taught the use of computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. so that they can use government services, learn to make online payments, perform video calls and many other activities. Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan (PMGDISHA) Scheme aims to achieve basic digital literacy at the rural household level. The scheme guarantees that at least one person in the family is trained to operate digital devices, utilise internet services and make digital payments. The target of the initiative is that by its completion, there is an expected 40% of the rural households that will be digitally literate.

The provisions of PMGDISHA as regards assistance are offered in the following segments:
Training Fee: Training partners are compensated with a sum of Rs. 300 for every candidate qualified and certified through the training.
Certification Fee: The certification authority is paid Rs. 70 for each candidate undergoing the course following the award of the requisite qualifications.
Monitoring Costs: States and Union Territories are also given a sum of Rs. 2 per candidate towards monitoring and other indirect costs.
To be eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan (PMGDISHA), the following criteria must be met:
The scheme is relevant to rural regions only.
The household should not have a single digitally literate member.
The minimum age prescribed is 14 years, and the maximum age is 60 years.
Attention is given to households residing in SC, ST, BPL, women and physically challenged categories.
Not every rural household qualifies for the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan (PMGDISHA). Here are some exclusions under the scheme:
Urban Panchayats: Households with people living in urban agglomerations cannot be benefitted from the scheme.
Digital Literacy Present: If someone in the family is already digital literate, such households shall not be covered under the scheme.
Multiple Beneficiaries: Only one person per family will be allowed to have the training. If some family has received training, no one from the same family can receive training.
Schools with ICT Training: Every student in classes 9th to 12th can be included, but only if there is no provision for computer/ICT training in their respective schools.

Fill in Personal Details: Provide demographic particulars by entering the Aadhaar number, age, male or female, address etc.
Verify via e-KYC: Perform Aadhaar e-KYC by using OTP, fingerprint, and iris scan. If you can not perform e-KYC through biometric verification then you may opt for the OTP verification method.
Create an Account: After successfully verifying yourself, you will create a login ID and password for the training portal.
Training Centre Allocation: Once registered, the beneficiary will be allotted a nearby PMGDISHA training centre within which the course will be provided.

The PMGDISHA scheme works closely with training partners, which can be NGOs, educational institutions, or corporations. Their roles include:
Setting Up Training Centres: Irrespective of who the Partners are, the centres are opened in rural areas for the promotion of digital literacy.
Compliance with Standards: The centres also have to observe the infrastructure and the technology standards set in the PMGDISHA.

After the training is finished, the process of completing the certification for PMGDISHA begins:
Complete the Course: It is unfavourable for the trainees who have stayed for at least 10 days to keep the courses uncompleted and an aggregate of 20 hours is the minimum prescribed time in the training for the trainees.
Appear for an Online Examination: The Online Examination of the trainees will be in MCQ format constituting 25 Questions, and the trainees are required to answer a minimum of seven questions in order to pass.
Receive Certification: After both the scholar’s course and the provided exam have been adequately completed, the trainee will obtain a PMGDISHA certificate.
Turn out certified: This enables the trainees to, because of their certificates which serve as evidence of the trainees’ digital skills, access digital services, both government and citizens oriented, and perform other activities.
