This comprehensive strategy allows for the greater timely delivery of projects, speedy project completions, and minimisation of logistical hurdles, and it makes India’s supply chain more competitive globally.
PM Gati Shakti was initiated to enhance the infrastructure construction and development system in India. It aims to complete projects quickly, reduce expenses, and improve inter-departmental coordination. Important information regarding its launch is provided below.

With the intent to reimagine the economic growth of India, the mission focuses on improving the infrastructure of the country. Alongside this, the mission emphasises improving execution speed, connectivity, and overall cost efficiency. These are the critical goals:
Improve efficiency on the global platform by decreasing transportation and logistics expenditures.
Integrate several agencies to promote greater efficiency in project implementation.
Enhance the connectivity of industries, markets, and supply chains.
Bolster investment in the infrastructure and logistics of India.
Facilitate reduced reliance on road transport with the advancement of multimodal transport systems.
The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is structured around six essential elements to guarantee infrastructure development. These principles cover integration, effectiveness, and monitoring in real time.
Comprehensiveness: An economic zone, as well as all infrastructure projects, is synchronised and put on a single digital platform.
Prioritisation: The Planning and implementation of projects in the major phases are done based on the issues that need immediate attention first, followed by the impactful concerns.
Optimisation: Effective positioning of resources and cost savings while maximally output effort.
Synchronisation: Eliminates silo-based working of different ministries.
Analytics: Employs real-time data and AI-based predictive analytics.
Dynamic Monitoring: Real-time project reporting. Automated quarterly reports.
The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan was designed to solve big problems related to infrastructure development planning. It seeks to integrate planning, reduce expenditure, and accelerate execution to achieve the desired objectives. Some of the reasons for its implementation are:
To Solve Delays in Infrastructure Projects: Many infrastructure projects in the region have progressed, but are usually delayed due to a lack of proper coordination and integration at different stages.
To Lower The Cost Of Logistics Operations: Logistics associated with the economy cost around 12% of GDP, which is higher than the 8% that is common in most economies across the globe.
To Preserve Resources: On completing digitisation or e-planning of infrastructure set-up, the government will be in a position to maximise the resources at its disposal.
The PM Gati Shakti initiative is expected to improve economic growth and infrastructure development in India. Its focus areas are transport, energy, and digital systems. The major objectives are as follows:
Build National Highways up to 2 lakh kilometres.
Develop 200 new airports, heliports, and water aerodromes to improve aviation.
