The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) started a crucial mission to enhance nutritional health standards among women and children across the Indian nation. During the 7th Poshan Pakhwada, the government will conduct the seventh annual observance spanning from 8th to 22nd April 2025. Under the PALNA Scheme of Mission Shakti, the government is extending better childcare services to working mothers. The government implements these programmes to demonstrate its comprehensive method in both fighting nutritional problems and enabling women's empowerment.
Poshan Pakhwada 2025 is a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting holistic nutrition and strengthening community participation in health and wellness. It focuses on raising awareness about healthy eating habits, maternal and child care, and the importance of balanced nutrition across all age groups.
The 2025 Poshan Pakhwada delivers critical health content through four essential areas.
Maternal and Infant Nutrition in the First 1,000 Days: The theme focuses on maternal and infant nutrition across the days from pregnancy until a child reaches two, by teaching families about breastfeeding techniques and dietary balance, and childhood development activities.
Promotion of the Poshan Tracker App: Trusted by government authorities is the Poshan Tracker App, which allows real-time collection and analysis of nutritional data for better outcome improvement.
Community-Based Management of Malnutrition (CMAM): Community-Based Management of Malnutrition (CMAM) provides local approaches to search and treat malnourished children at their community locations where appropriate care can be delivered promptly.
Encouraging Healthy Lifestyles to Combat Childhood Obesity: The prevention of childhood obesity and its linked medical issues can be achieved through supporting children to maintain active lifestyles and eat proper diets.
The scheduled review of Arunachal Pradesh’s nutrition initiatives will be conducted by Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi. Savitri Thakur, who serves as Minister of State, will launch the campaign through a webcast that supports Anganwadi workers together with officials working for the 18 partner ministries. During this outcome-oriented campaign, communities conduct village camps alongside home visits and educate residents through educational drives, which act as vital components for outreach activities.

The nutritional programme Poshan Abhiyaan started operation in 2018 to become the leading mission for better nutritional results among women and children. It presents remarkable importance because medical science has proven it marks the essential developmental point for bodies and brains. Programmes aimed at early childhood nutrition at this period teach proper breastfeeding techniques along with balanced meal planning for tribal populations who heavily rely upon their local food sources in remote locations.
The PALNA Scheme is a crucial step towards empowering working mothers by ensuring quality day-care facilities for their children. It offers a safe and nurturing environment for early childhood development while supporting women’s participation in the workforce.
Under the SAMARTHYA sub-scheme of Mission Shakti, the PALNA Scheme operates through day-care facilities that serve children from six months old to six years old. Through this initiative, working mothers can rely on facilities that offer nutrition and care services for their children when they are absent.
Under the PALNA Scheme, the government intends to build 17,000 crèches around the country inside Anganwadi facilities. The planned facilities offer child daycare to create secure settings where children can receive comprehensive development opportunities for their physical aspects and cognitive abilities, and emotional needs. The scheme supports early childhood education, as stated by the National Education Policy 2020.

As part of its commitment to improving childcare and nutrition, the Indian government has initiated Poshan Pakhwada and the PALNA Scheme for 2025. The programmes work toward establishing a fairer society by delivering early prevention measures and enhancing community involvement and backing for working mothers. The fundamental requirement for the successful continuation of these initiatives demands ongoing investment from all relevant sectors.
