The PM Vishwakarma Scheme was launched on 17 September 2023, Vishwakarma Day. This government scheme will run for five years, ending in 2027-28. The PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through this scheme, the government gives different artisans loans at low interest rates. The main goal of the Vishwakarma Scheme is to recognise artisans and craftsmen as "Vishwakarma" and provide them with all the benefits.
The government has set a budget of Rs 13,000 crore for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. By offering loans at affordable rates, the government wants to support and improve the work of artisans.

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana offers a range of benefits to artisans, including financial support and training opportunities. Beneficiaries can avail themselves of loans, toolkits, and incentives for digital transactions to boost their work and skills.
The PM Vishwakarma Yojana will give recognition to beneficiaries with a certificate and ID card. Beneficiaries can use this certificate to get benefits for their work.
After verification, beneficiaries will receive basic training for 5-7 days. Those interested can also enrol for advanced training for 15 days. During training, Rs. 500 will be given per day.
Once training is completed, beneficiaries will receive Rs. 15,000 to buy a toolkit and start their work.
Beneficiaries can get an unsecured loan of Rs. 1 lakh, repayable in 18 months. If the first loan is repaid on time, they can get a second loan of Rs. 2 lakh, repayable in 30 months. The loan will have a 5% interest rate, and the government will pay the remaining interest.
For digital transactions, beneficiaries will receive Rs. 1 per transaction for up to 100 transactions each month.
The National Marketing Committee will help artisans with quality certification, branding, promotion, e-commerce links, trade fairs, advertising, and other marketing support.
The applicants must meet various criteria under the PM Vishwakarma loan. The list of the set criteria is given below:
An artisan or craftsman working in the unorganised sector with hands and tools can register under PM Vishwakarma if they are self-employed and in a family-based traditional occupation.
The beneficiary must be at least 18 years old at the time of registration.
The person must be engaged in the relevant trade on the date of registration.
They should not have taken a loan under similar Central or State Government schemes for self-employment or business development.
They must not have used government schemes like PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, or Mudra Yojana in the last five years.
Only one member of the family can register for the government scheme. A family includes the husband, wife, and unmarried children.

Registering for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a simple process that can be done online. Follow the steps below to complete your registration and start benefiting from the scheme.
Step 1: Visit your nearest Common Service Centre.
Step 2: Verify your mobile number and complete the Aadhaar eKYC.
Step 3: Apply for the Artisan Registration Form.

Multiple documents have to be submitted to apply for the post of PM Vishwakarma. Let’s take a look at the list of documents needed.
Caste Certificate to confirm the community of the beneficiary.
An Income Certificate that shows the beneficiary’s annual income.
Residence Certificate to provide the current address of the beneficiary.
Educational Qualification Certificate that shows the beneficiary’s educational background.
Skill Certificate for details of the skills and experience of the beneficiary.
Occupation Certificate to show the beneficiary’s current occupation (if any).
Applicants can follow these steps to check their verification process and benefit from the disbursal process of the Vishwakarma Yojana.
The Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body (ULB) will first check if the person is eligible.
The District Implementation Committee will review and recommend the applications.
The Screening Committee will give final approval for registration after confirming the eligibility of the applicants.
After passing the three-step verification, artisans and craftspeople will register as Vishwakarma under the government scheme.
They will get a Digital ID, a PM Vishwakarma Digital Certificate, and a PM Vishwakarma ID Card.
The certificate will officially recognise them as Vishwakarma and allow them to access all the benefits of the Scheme.
