Education, especially a university education, is costly, and many students cannot afford their dreams of pursuing higher education. To overcome this challenge, the Ministry of Education has launched the PM Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Scholarship (PM USP). This govt scholarship is for students who are willing to further their education in various recognised institutions in India, so much so that monetary hindrances should not deter them from achieving their best.
In this article, you will get detailed information about the PM Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Scholarship, its features, benefits, eligibility and much more.
The PM Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Scholarship (PM-USP) is a government initiative to support bright students in pursuing higher education without financial constraints. The table below highlights the scheme’s key details for quick reference.
Feature | Details |
---|---|
Launched By | Ministry of Education |
Scholarship Name | PM Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Scholarship (PM-USP) |
Purpose | Financial support for meritorious students pursuing UG and PG courses |
Eligibility Basis | Class 12 performance and financial need |
Scholarship Amount | ₹12,000 to ₹20,000 annually, depending on the course |
Beneficiaries Per Year | Approximately 82,000 students |
The PM-USP Sarkari Scholarship also offers financial support to students, and the amount depends on students' Class 12 marks. Its main purpose will be to help talented students get the resources they need to continue their undergraduate and postgraduate education, without any outstanding money issues. This scholarship extends to several discipline areas and professional fields such as engineering and medicine, among others.
The PM-USP scholarship carries on with the same course as in the last years, helping students annually with Sarkari scholarships for 82,000 novices. Another feature of the PM-USP 2025 scheme is that the disbursals happen in the student’s bank account under the Direct Benefit Transfer system to minimise corruption.
The PM-USP is unique in some ways that are advantageous for the students. The following are some salient features of the PM Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Scholarship scheme:-
Merit-Based Selection: It tries to select students through performance in Class 12 examinations as a criterion.
Support for Professional Courses: Scholarships are provided for professional duration academic courses, such as medical or engineering courses.
DBT System: To have an assurance that these facilities are effective, funds are directly deposited in the account of the student.
Reservation Policy: The scheme also adheres to the central reservation policy for allowing the SC, ST, OBC and PwD students.
This government scholarship helps to reduce the financial burden for students, especially those pursuing a university education. Students coming from lower sections of society can channel their energy into studies without any financial strain. It also makes students work hard in their academics because the scholarship is merit-based, hence everyone wishes to be the best.
Course | Amount |
---|---|
Undergraduate Courses | Per year for the first three years, students get ₹12,000. |
Postgraduate Courses | Selected students in PG programmes are awarded ₹20,000 per year. |
Professional Courses | For courses such as engineering and medicine, the amount of ₹12,000 is offered for 1st year and ₹20,000 for the remaining period of the four-year course. |
The scholarship amount for PM-USP is credited to the student’s account. Drawing from the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, the government guarantees that the funds get to students without interference from other parties. The students applying for this scholarship should have a bank account in their name.
