It seems the Modi government comes prepared for the Parliament Winter Session 2024 with the highlighted list of 16 Bills to pass. Five new Bills and 11 Bills still pending in the House, areas of shipping, port, judiciary and cooperative education will be tackled. Among them are some which have been topical in recent times and among them include the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Five new bills are proposed to be passed during the session and address 11 pending bills which will be considered in both houses: -
The Coastal Shipping Bill, 2024:
It supports coasting trade and tries to get Indians involved due to security and commerce vulnerabilities.
The Indian Ports Bill, 2024:
Is intended to protect and promote interests related to port conservation, safety, and anti-pollution, all of which are in conformity with international norms.
The Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024:
Deals primarily with liabilities of India in respect of maritime treaties and streamlining of Indian mercantile marine.
The Punjab Courts Amendment Bill, 2024:
Increases the appellate jurisdiction of the Delhi district courts to ₹20 lakh from ₹3 lakh.
The Rashtriya Sahkari Vishwavidyalaya Bill:
Some recommendations include the creation of a national cooperative university.
The Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024, contains recommendations to enhance the involvement and structure of disaster response and management.
The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Goa Bill, 2024: Aims to change the face of the Goa legislative mechanisms for the better regarding the Scheduled Tribes.
The Mussalman Waqf (Repeal) Bill, 2024: Aims to repeal outdated laws governing Muslim charitable endowments (waqfs).
The Bills of Lading Bill, 2024, revises the laws governing the filing of goods for transportation across international borders.
The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2024: Aims at the liberalisation of current rules governing cargo transportation and liability in marine trade.
The Railways Amendment Act 2024: Outlines measures for cost-effectiveness and de-pollution for operation of railways.
Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill of the year 2024: Covers the government’s intention to introduce legislation to change banking legislation to enhance reformation and governance in the country.
The Oilelds (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, 2024: Focuses on better regulation and development of oilfields and hydrocarbon exploration.
The Boilers Bill, 2024: Sets out and analyses present-day requirements for industrial boilers in terms of safety and efficiency.
The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024. (which has already passed in Lok Sabha.): Intended at amending aviation laws; has been passed in the Lok Sabha.

The Indian Waqf Bill has been examined by a Joint Parliamentary Committee since August 2024. Its report is hoped to stimulate discussion in this session.
The First Batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2024–25 in respect of each Ministry/Department will also be presented APP.
The measures to be advanced in the legislative branch are maritime and port, judicial, cooperative education, disaster response, and management.
