This government scheme has been designed with certain parameters of goals to be achieved. The govt of Haryana is investing in this scheme to:
Financial Assistance: This scheme provides financial assistance to poor destitute families with one of the biggest costs that they face which are wedding costs. Weddings in India are a $130 billion industry and can put a lot of strain on families to meet societal expectations.
Woman Empowerment: By easing the financial strain associated with getting married, girls in poor families can afford more agency in who they marry.
Debt Trap Avoidance: Many families below the poverty line end up taking loans from unregulated institutes that charge high interest rates, and they are trapped in debt henceforth.
Accurate Data Collection: Since disbursement of the full entitled amount under the govt scheme is only done when the marriage is registered, therefore this helps the Haryana government to have more accurate demographic data.
Prevention of Child Marriage: Since the age-related documentation of the girl needs to be submitted to apply for this scheme, families that are illegally trying to take part in child marriage will be caught.
