Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana 2025: Scholarship For Vulnerable Students In Odisha

For the school students belonging to families affected with HIV/AIDS; destitute families; and other vulnerable categories the Government of Odisha has started the Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana. By awarding this government scholarship, intending students in the graduate and postgraduate level courses are assisted in completing their courses. What Is The Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana Scholarship?

This scholarship offers funds to needy and vulnerable students within Odisha. It is designed for students who are in HIV/AIDS-affected families and other challenged students.

Eligibility Criteria

As for the requirements for the given award, the applicant has to be a member of certain categories of the vulnerable population. They also must be a permanent resident of Odisha and have a family income which does not exceed the limit amount fixed by the state government.

Hence to be eligible for the Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana 2024 scholarship, students must belong to certain vulnerable groups.

• They must also be permanent residents of Odisha and have a family income below the specified limit.

• Children belonging to parents infected by HIV/AIDS or children orphaned by the virus.

• Nomadic households, or living in a house and relying on charity.

• Manual scavengers.

• For instance, they include Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

• Some of them are legally released bonded labourers.

• Single mother families.

• A student, who wishes to apply for the award, should be studying in a regular graduate or postgraduate course in a recognised University in Odisha.

• The Total monthly household income to be included in the study should be within ₹ 10,000 only.

Application Process

Students can apply online through the official portal by submitting the necessary details and uploading the required documents. Step-by-step process to enrol for the Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana 2024.

Step 1: To apply for an SSC CGL Exam follow these steps; Go to the official address of the State Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: In the list of scholarships find “Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana”

Step 3: Sign up to the “Create an account” or “Register” button and provide the necessary information for the lesson.

Step 4: Upload necessary documents.

Step 5: Fill out the “Application Online” and then download a copy of it.

Step 6: Forms should be submitted with documents in two hard copies to the Principal/Head of the Institution.

Documents Required

Essential documents include proof of income, an Aadhaar card, educational certificates, residence certificates, and bank account details. It is mandatory to submit the necessary documents that are listed below.

• Resident certificate.

• Income certificate.

• Medical certificate for HIV/AIDS if a client has one.

• A destitute certificate living on alms or a single mother certificate ( depending on the case).

• Certificate of belonging to a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG).

• Certificate of having been legally released bonded labourer (as the case may be).

• Original copy of passbook or bank account statement issued within the last 6 months

(photocopy of any one of the following: Passport size recent colour photograph Student Name, Account No., IFSC code).

Verification At The Principal/Head of Institution Level

The principal or head of the institution verifies the applicant's educational details and forwards the application for further processing.

Step 1: The students will also submit the form together with other forms and documents which will be checked by the principal or the head of the institution.

Step 2: Cheque all information entered in the application by the student and all the documents uploaded by him/her.

Step 3: Regarding documents, the results indicate that they need to be sufficiently tagged and structured.

Step 4: All qualified applications will be forwarded to the District Collector.

Step 5: Applications which are only partly filled in, or applications which were filled in late, will not be considered for further processing.

Verification At The District level

At the district level, authorities check the authenticity of the applicant’s information, including income and residence, before approving the application.

Step 1: Applications from various institutions will be initially sent in and the District Collector’s committee will then validate them.

Step 2: Concerning the applications, the committee will go through and approve eligible students through the govt scheme.

Step 3: The names of the selected student lists will be submitted to the Higher Education.

Step 4: Department for fund disbursement of the said financial assistance.

Step 5: The disbursement of the scholarship amount will be done by crediting the amount directly into the student's account.

Selection Procedure

Eligible students are selected based on merit, income criteria, and the availability of funds under the scheme.

Step 1: The criteria for selecting candidates prevents potentially eligible and deserving students from the grants from receiving financial assistance.

Step 2: The principal scrutinises and passes on the appropriate applications to the District Collector.

Step 3: The list of selected students is approved by the District Collector’s committee.

Step 4: The amount of scholarship is credited into the account of the students by the Higher Education Department.
