The government of India is continuously bringing out new government schemes and policies to help the farmer and fishermen sector of the nation. On the same note, the Odisha Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Maschyajibi Kalyan Yojana. Let us learn the details of the MMKY Govt Scheme.

The MMKY scheme was launched by the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development Department, Government of Odisha, under the Mukhyamantri Maschyajibi Kalyan Yojana (MMKY). The state government scheme aims to help coastal communities by providing them with new boats, engines, and fishing nets to increase marine fish production. It also aims to improve the income and welfare of marine fishers. The Sarkari Yojana will be carried out in the coastal districts of Odisha and will be managed by the district-level fisheries officers. Let’s understand this government scheme in detail.

Fishing Boat | The maximum unit cost is ₹7.50 lakh. Government assistance is ₹3.00 lakh for general and ₹4.50 lakh for women, SC/ST, PWD, or transgender beneficiaries. |

The following criteria have to be met to apply for the government scheme. To avail the benefit of this Sarkari Yojana, make sure you fit into the eligibility list.
Must live in Odisha and have identity and residential proof, including an Aadhaar Card.
Must have a bank account in their name in Odisha.
Should have a QR-coded Aadhaar Card.
Should not have received financial help from the government for a new boat or engine in the last 5 years (since April 1, 2018) or for a net in the last 3 years (since April 1, 2020).
Only one family member can receive benefits under this government scheme. If any family member has received a subsidy in the last three years, the whole family is not eligible for further subsidy under the same Sarkari Yojana.
Interested applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can apply for this govt scheme online and offline. The procedure is very simple and easy to follow. Let’s have a look at the steps carefully for the application process.
Applicants who want to apply online can follow these steps.
Step 1: Visit the official Sugam website.
Step 2: Click on “Apply” and then “Register Now”.
Step 3: Fill out the necessary details.
Step 4: Click “Register”.
Step 5: The login details will be sent to the registered mobile number or email.
Step 6: To apply for the government scheme, visit the home page.
Step 7: Click “Scheme & Services” and select the scheme name.
Step 8: Click “Apply” and log in at: https://sugam.odisha.gov.in/website/citizen-portal/login.
Step 9: Fill in all required fields.
Step 10: Upload the necessary documents.
Step 11: Apply.
Note: You will receive an Application Reference ID after successful submission.
To apply offline, applicants can follow these steps.
Step 1: Submit the application forms through the AFO ME unit using the prescribed format (Annexure-I).
Step 2: Fill out the application form.
Step 3: Submit it to the Additional Fisheries Officers (Marine) or District Fisheries Officer (B&T), Balugaon.
Step 4: Show the model of the fishing boat, dimensions (LxBxH), marine engine type (05 HP - 100 HP), and type of net needed in the application form.
Step 5: Provide photocopies of required documents as per the checklist with the application.
Step 6: Ensure identification with Aadhaar linking at the time of submission.

The following documents have to be submitted along with the application form to apply for the MMKY scheme. So make sure you have all the documents ready and renewed to avoid any last-minute hassles.
Photo ID card.
Passport-size photograph.
Caste/category certificate (if applicable).
Bank account details or the first page of the bank passbook.
Any other required documents.
Marine fisheries often struggle with meeting the demand because of the lack of tools and required items as it is expensive and will be a financial burden to them.
