Construction workers are a country’s literal building blocks; they are one of the primary reasons behind any infrastructure ranging from small one-story buildings to magnificent skyscrapers. The profession of construction workers is not only underappreciated but also comes under the informal sector wherein they don’t get to enjoy the usual benefits associated with any kind of formal employment like paid leaves, health insurance coverage, etc.
There is always a risk involved in the work of construction workers which can be extreme at times and lead to severe impairment or disability. Therefore, they need to have access to quality medical care whenever they might need it.
To ensure that construction workers get access to quality medical care, the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli launched an insurance scheme for construction workers at affordable rates of premium. The primary aim of providing them with health insurance coverage is to help them in cases of accidents and protect their lives by providing them with a protective shield.
