It is crucial to establish measures and protect the people of India irrespective of some superficial grounds like race, caste, or religion. India is a secular country but in many instances, it has been seen that the people who come from the tribal communities, especially Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) don’t enjoy the same benefits as others.
To ensure that people enjoy the same rights and benefits as others and not get discriminated against based on their culture, the government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan also known as the PM JANMAN Scheme. The government scheme aims to provide various rights and services to people by delivering all the things that they deserve like quality healthcare, financial support, nutritional food, etc.

The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan also known as the PM Janman Scheme was launched by the government of India in the year 2020 under the purview of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scheme aims to provide people from tribal communities, especially Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) access to various government yojana and services to which they are entitled. The govt scheme is designed to promote the health and well-being of families who come from the tribal communities as they are often overlooked.
The Sarkari Yojana aims to achieve the same by providing a range of services to the beneficiaries of the scheme such as clean drinking water, nutritional food, financial support, access to quality education, etc.
The tribal communities are often overlooked by the people and also the government due to some stereotypes attached to them. But is it fair to treat people as out-groups simply because one isn’t interested in learning about their culture? No. To change this existing scenario and extend support to them, the government introduced a scheme specifically designed for them.
It is one of those few govt schemes that cover more than financial and healthcare support but also provide clean drinking water, safe housing, access to quality education, etc. The scheme’s primary vision and scope is to make things better for people coming from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan is an exceptional initiative launched by the government, however, it faces numerous challenges which hinder its progress such as:
Inaccurate data: The census data of people from the PVTGs isn’t accurate or enough. The govt still uses the data from the year 2001 which accounts for only around 27 lakh people.
Lack of awareness: People from the tribal communities aren’t aware of the Sarkari scheme which is another big challenge in the way of the scheme.
The Dhebar Commission is a body that works for the growth and development of the people from the tribal communities (STs). In the year 1973, the Dhebar Commission formed Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs) for those who are less developed than the other tribal groups. Later, the name was changed by the government in 2006 to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
PVTGs are spread across the nation but the highest number of PVTGs are situated in the state of Odisha, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Gujarat.
The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan is one of the most exceptional schemes launched by the government. It is specifically designed to promote the wellbeing of the people from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups and improve their standard of living.
