The West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) launched a scholarship scheme called the Aikyashree Scholarship. The primary aim of the scholarship is to lift the financial burden from the shoulders of students from minority communities so that they can pursue further education and build their careers.
The scholarship program is completely funded by the state government of West Bengal and covers not only the academic fees but also hostel and other fees as well.

As per the scheme, selected students can apply for educational loans too at flexible and affordable interest rates.
The scholarship scheme also provides training to students preparing for competitive examinations.
The Aikyashree scholarship scheme covers 5 major schemes for which students can apply and reap benefits. Those 5 covered schemes are:

Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship | For female students studying in class 12th and who want to pursue further UG education in Basic Science, Engineering, or Medicine. Selected students are eligible to receive monthly support worth Rs. 3000 along with a yearly book grant of Rs. 2000. |
Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship | Especially for students studying in class 11 to post-graduation. Selected students are eligible to receive monthly monetary support worth Rs. 8000 (the amount may differ as per the student’s academic standing). |
Hindi Scholarship Scheme | This scheme is for students studying the Hindi language in non-Hindi-speaking states like West Bengal. Students completing higher secondary to research level education can apply for the scheme, and selected students will get monthly aid ranging from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000. |

The eligibility criteria of each of the 5 scholarship schemes under the Aikyashree scheme are laid down below for one’s reference. The Aikyashree Scholarship eligibility is as follows:
The student must be from the state of West Bengal.
Students must be in classes 9th or 10th.
It is a must that the student should come from the SC or ST category with an annual income of not more than Rs. 2 lakhs.
The student must be from the state of West Bengal.
Students must be in classes 11th, 12th, Graduation, or Post-Graduation.
It is a must that the student should come from the SC, ST, or OBC category with an annual income of not more than Rs. 1 lakh for OBC, Rs. 2 lakh for SC, and Rs. 2.5 lakh for ST.
The student must be from the state of West Bengal.
The student must be a female.
Students should have cleared class 12th.
If the student is interested in pursuing their bachelor’s in Basic Science, Engineering, or Medicine, they can apply for the scheme.
The student must be from the state of West Bengal.
Students must be in classes 11th or 12th.
Or else, Students studying at higher secondary grades or pursuing any diploma course after securing at least 75% in class 10th.
Students enrolled in a UG program after securing at least 75% in class 12th.
Annual income should not be more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Students pursuing M.Phil or Doctoral programs can also apply for the scheme.
The student must be from the state of West Bengal.
Students must be from a non-Hindi-speaking state.
Students must have cleared either of the following: higher secondary, UG, or PG after clearing the previous examinations with at least 60% marks, with Hindi as one of the subjects.

One can apply for the state govt scholarship scheme by following the steps laid down below in detail to avoid any confusion. The steps are as follows:
Step 1: Please visit the respective portal of the scheme you’re applying for.
Step 2: Click on ‘New Registration’.
Step 3: Enter required information like name, district, date of birth, mobile number, mail ID, and bank account details.
Step 4: After registration, a temporary user ID will be sent to your email address. Please set up the permanent user ID and password.
Step 5: Log in using your credentials.
Step 6: Fill in your academic information.
Step 7: Recheck the application form and click on ‘submit’.
Please note that the Aikyashree Scholarship last date is 31st August 2025.
To successfully apply for the state govt scholarship scheme, one needs to submit some supporting documents. The list of those documents is as follows:

Beneficiaries of any of the 5 scholarship schemes under Aikyashree are required to apply for renewal of the same. The renewal process is described below for one’s better understanding:
Step 1: Please visit the respective portal of the scheme you’re applying for.
Step 2: Click on ‘Renewal Application’ and select your district.
Step 3: Log in to your account using your credentials.
Step 4: You will come across two options: ‘Renew’ or ‘Withdraw’ application. Please select ‘Renew’.
Step 5: Fill in your academic and bank account information.
Step 6: Upload the supporting documents.
Step 7: Recheck and submit the renewal application.
If in case, you have lost your Aikyashree login ID and password, you can retrieve it by carrying out some simple steps:
Step 1: Please visit the respective portal of the scheme you’re applying for.
Step 2: Click on ‘Student’s Login’.
Step 3: Select ‘Forgot User ID/Password’.
Step 4: Fill in the required information like scholarship registration year, institute, district, mobile number, date of birth, and bank account number.
Step 5: You will receive an SMS with the temporary user ID and password.
