Assam is a northeastern state that lacks proper connectivity with the rest of the country. Due to the influx of refugees and the lack of developmental opportunities, the population comprises economically backwards people with a lack of income sources, even to manage two meals a day.
In 2019, the poverty rate of Assam was estimated to be 22 per cent. With a stable, if not decreasing, poverty rate, Assam was under a starvation spell, especially among certain people. Aiding and improving the circumstances was essential to helping the state grow and prosper. After assessing the entire picture, the Government of Assam initiated the Orunodoi Scheme 3.0. The Orunodoi or ‘Arunodoi’ scheme is a landmark scheme launched by the Government of Assam. It aims to alleviate poverty and provide nutritional support to poor families in Assam. Women have been made the name-bearing beneficiaries for this scheme since the household is managed by them.
The scheme was inaugurated on October 2, 2020, and provides Rs. 830 per month to households for their nutritional and medical needs. It is a wonderful step towards socio-economic empowerment and providing food to every citizen.
In furtherance of these aims and objectives, and keeping in mind the success of the Arunodoi scheme, the Government of Assam introduced the Orunodoi 3.0.

The Orunodoi 3.0 is a revamped and restructured version of the previous scheme. The amount of monthly financial assistance has increased from 1000 rupees to 1400 rupees. This way, the nutritional support provided to the families eligible under this government scheme is strengthened. It started distributing its profits on April 14, 2023.
The Orunodoi 3.0 has various features that outline the scheme’s major goals. Some of its main features are:
Monetary aid: Under the government, registered individuals are given monthly monetary support of Rs. 1400, which is credited directly into their bank accounts.
Fulfils basic needs: The Orunodoi 3.0 aims to deliver basic commodities like food, quality healthcare, and others to people and help them improve their standard of living.
Direct Benefit Transfer: The Orunodoi 3.0 uses the DBT method to deposit monetary aid directly into the bank accounts of people to reduce the chances of corruption and other such cheating practices.
Focus on women and rural areas: The government scheme focuses on the growth and development of both women and people from rural areas.

The total income of the applicant’s family must not exceed Rs. 2,00,000 in a year.
The applicant should be a woman.
There is no age limit under this scheme.

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Orunodoi Scheme.
Step 2: Click on the Register/login option.
Step 3: Fill in your details.
Step 4: Upload a photo and other requisite documents.
Step 5: Click on Submit to finish the Orunodoi apply online process.
Step 1: Visit your Panchayat office and get an Orunodoi form.
Step 2: Fill out the application form with all the requisite details.
Step 3: Attach the required and relevant documents with the form.
Step 4: Submit it to the Panchayat office or the local urban body office.
Step 5: They will give you an acknowledgement slip.
Step 6: After scrutiny and verification, if you are approved, you will be able to view your name in the Orunodoi beneficiary list uploaded on the website.

Step 1: Go to the Orunodoi official portal.
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the “View Beneficiary Status” option.
Step 3: Choose your district from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Input the last 7 digits of your beneficiary number in the designated field.

Orunodoi 2.0 is an upgraded version of the Orunodoi scheme wherein the amount of financial assistance is increased to Rs. 1000 given every month to the people registered under the scheme. The amount will be credited through DBT.
