The Nirman Shramikon Ke Liye Vyavsayik Rin Par Byaj Ki Punarbharan Yojana is a social welfare scheme launched by the government of India. This government scheme is especially designed for construction workers, specifically those who have taken out loans from financial institutions for commercial purposes. The primary reason behind the creation of this scheme is to offer interest reimbursement so that the workers can repay their loans easily without being under constant monetary pressure.
Please note that under the Vyavsayik Rin Byaj Punarbharan Yojana, the authorities don’t provide financial aid in cash; it is in the form of interest repayment. The government aims to encourage construction workers to establish their own small business units and create a different income source for themselves, instead of just being dependent on one.
There are several objectives of this govt scheme that make it unique and beneficial, some of which are described below for one’s better understanding of the scheme:
Loans, especially taken by workers from the unorganised sector, are daunting in themselves, but interest makes it worse. Hence, the primary objective of this government scheme for construction workers is to help them repay interest on loans of up to Rs. 5 lakh taken for commercial purposes.
The government scheme also aims to encourage construction workers to establish their own small business units or ventures instead of being dependent on daily wage work. The scheme makes loans affordable, which will motivate the workers to start something of their own without the fear of falling into the debt cycle.
Construction workers are a part of the unorganised sector, which is unstable and extremely undesirable when it comes to applying for loans from formal sources of credit, like banks. The labour loan subsidy scheme takes care of the interest, which encourages financial institutions to issue loans as well to construction workers. The scheme also aims to reduce the dependency of workers on informal sources of credit.
The construction worker loan interest subsidy scheme comes along with numerous benefits that are mentioned below:
The main and most popular benefit of this government scheme for construction workers is that it provides financial support in the form of interest repayment on the loans taken out by workers for commercial purposes. This makes the repayment easier and more manageable for the workers.
As the scheme covers the interest part of the loan for the workers, it also reduces the risk of them falling into debt traps and their dependency on informal sources of credit that provide loans instantly but with an extremely high rate of interest.
One of the indirect benefits of the construction worker loan interest subsidy scheme is that it protects their earnings, as not all of it will go into the repayment of the loan. With the help of this scheme, beneficiaries can manage their incomes well.
