High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are license plates to be installed on vehicles. They have been introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for all kinds of vehicle owners in the state. The new plates are equipped with extra security measures so that people’s vehicles can stay protected and safe.
HSRP aren’t an option but a legal order issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for all the vehicle owners who purchased their vehicles before April 1st, 2019. This is being implemented by various states, including the state of Uttar Pradesh. All the vehicle owners residing in UP are required to do the same within the given deadlines.

Step 1: Please visit the official website of the HSRP vendor for UP.
Step 2: Click on UP HSRP and fill in the details of your vehicle, such as registration number, engine number, and chassis number.
Step 3: Book an appointment to get the HSRP installed in your vehicle.
Step 4: Please make the payment and visit the centre on the appointment date for the installation of the HSRP number plate UP.

If a vehicle owner who is from the state of UP fails to get their vehicle equipped with the new number plate, they will be liable to face some legal consequences in the form of penalties:
For a first-time offender: Fine of Rs. 5000.
For a repeat offender: Fine of Rs. 10,000.
Along with the penalties, the vehicles without HSRP might be taken away for a temporary period by the authorities.
Various state governments, including the state government of UP, have taken as many actionable measures as possible to make the whole process of HSRP installation easy and convenient for the people.
However, it has been noticed that people residing in the rural parts have not gotten HSRP installed in their vehicles, and there are many reasons for it, such as unawareness, limited access to HSRP installation centres, etc. Other people have been facing issues with the online portal, which is hindering the process of getting the new number plates.
